Chicom Chest Rig - your versatile companion for tactical operations

The Chicom Chest Rig is a modern, easily expandable piece of equipment with deep roots: Inspired by the legendary original equipment of the 1940s, it gained its popularity during the Vietnam War and is still considered an indispensable element for tactical operations and shooting training today. With its simple and flexible design, the Chest Rig meets even the most demanding requirements in urban environments and in CQB tactics, where mobility and access to equipment are crucial.

Functionality meets comfort: Equipment of the Chicom Chest Rig

This Chest Rig has three Velcro pockets that offer space for AR or AK magazines. The basic equipment can be expanded: additional pockets such as grenade pouches, cargo pockets or a first aid bag can be flexibly attached to the MOLLE/PALS panels on the side and inside. If necessary, the number of magazine pockets can be increased from three to five. The stable construction guarantees even weight distribution for comfortable wearing over longer periods of time. The Velcro surface on the back allows the bag to be expanded to include a drop-down pocket, and behind the magazine pockets there is a flat pocket closed with Velcro for documents or similar.

Traditional design with modern functionality

From the People's Army to the free market - the name Chicom (from the words China and Communist) refers to the origins of the chest rig in the People's Republic of China. In the 1940s, the Chinese Army introduced pouches made of tarpaulin fabric that were worn on suspenders at chest level rather than on the belt as before. The simple design was economical and comfortable for the soldier. Over the years, many versions of the Chicom were created and adapted to different ammunition, weapons, etc. There were designs developed for the PPS submachine gun, the SKS carbine, and the AK 47. The Chicom chest rig became popular when American troops reused enemy equipment during the Vietnam War. Soon after, this type of chest rig found its way to, for example, the SOG forces and Navy Seals. After 2000, the Chicom became popular again due to the involvement of the US Army in the Afghanistan conflict.
